Repair
The Cartridge Man specialises in the repair of all types of
phono cartridges - moving coil, moving magnet and moving
iron (variable reluctance) designs.
We normally rebuild to the original design and guarantee performance
at least the equal of the original. All work is hand-calibrated and
guaranteed for one year. A rebuild will typically comprise stylus
replacement or re-tip and overhaul/replacement of cantilever, suspension
and coils as necessary.
Note that stylus material is that of the original (aluminium, duralumin,
boron or sapphire) fitted with a diamond stylus of correct profile.
Customer-requested alternatives may be fitted if appropriate.
Typical costs range from a minimum of £90 (inc. VAT) for a moving
magnet and from £375 (inc. VAT) for a moving coil, depending
on the work required. Note that all work undertaken will always involve
checking/refurbishment of the suspension, tye-wires etc. in order
to be able to provide a guarantee.
